Sean Wright
Instruments: Saxes, Clarinet, Flute, Piano
Originally from Doylestown, Pa., Sean Wright began playing piano at the age of 5, and he has never stopped making music ever since. He used that technique, knowledge, and passion involved with music and applied it to playing the saxophone at age 9. Since then, he has continued to practice and perfect while adding other instruments such as clarinet and flute. Middle school and high school were filled with a well rounded education with a major focus in classical and jazz ensembles.
Because of his passion in this area, Sean attended Providence College where he majored in Music Education. His continued love of playing led him to Greece and the Athens Conservatory where he studied under Theodore Kerkezos. He also performed professionally as a soloist and as a part of the Saxophone Orchestra of the Piraeus Prefecture. Currently he is continuing to improve as a musician and teacher at Boston Conservatory where his focus is in saxophone performance. He has performed and worked in a wide range of ensembles including jazz bands, wind ensembles, pit orchestras, and other various chamber groups. In addition to his education, he performs at a variety of venues as a freelance musician. Sean also performs and tours with indie rock artist Jason Anderson.
A sense of well-roundedness has always been a theme of Sean's musical life. Although the majority of his work has been in saxophone, he continues to perform and play clarinet, flute, and piano on a consistent basis through pit orchestra opportunities as well as personal desire/practice. It is important for a musician to understand on a broad sense what music really is. This can only come from experiencing as many fields of music as possible. With regard to genres/styles, instruments,and fields of study, he continues his drive to become a "complete" musician and teacher.
Having recently joined the staff at The Fabulous School of Music, Sean looks forward to an inspiring experience of teaching others while continuing to improve upon his craft.
